Suspect charged in weekend stabbing on Young Street

Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a 24-year-old Winnipeg man in connection to the stabbing of a 24-year-old woman and the physical assault of another female last Sunday in the 300 block of Young Street.

The woman, who had been stabbed in the upper body at about 3:30 a.m., was taken to hospital in critical condition but was later upgraded to stable condition. Medical attention was not needed for the second female.

Investigators found the stabbing occcurred during an argument between man and the two victims who had been socializing together. The man fled after stabbing the 24-year-old woman.

Manuel Joseph Craveiro has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He is being held at the Provincial Remand Centre.
