Sweatt goes on Canucks' injured list

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Vancouver Canucks are keeping defenceman Lee Sweatt on their roster and moving him to the long-term injury list after it was discovered he had suffered a broken foot at practice last week.

The Canucks originally had designated the 25-year-old from Illinois to be sent to the Moose today after playing in his first three NHL games last week.

Injured players are not permitted to be assigned to the minors.

The Moose said today it’s likely Sweatt will be out betweeen four and six weeks, making his return about mid-March at best. He has played 41 AHL games so far this season.

The Moose resume AHL action Tuesday night here against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
