Winnipeggers can bid 2012 a fond farewell and say hello to 2013 tonight at The Forks.
A number of New Year’s Eve activities get going at 5 p.m., including crafts for kids in the south aisle of The Forks Market and horse-drawn wagon rides in front of Explore Manitoba.
Live entertainment begins at 6 p.m. on the main stage of The Forks Market.
At 9:30 p.m., the party continues in the port, with a dance party with DJ Hunnicutt and DJ Coop, followed by fireworks at 10 p.m. by world champion Archangel Fireworks.
Bundle up, though. Environment Canada is calling for a clear, cold night, with the mercury dropping to -25 C. The wind chill makes it feel like it’s -34.
Manitoba Public Insurance and the City of Winnipeg are reminding Winnipeggers to have a safe New Year’s Eve.
The city is providing a Free Ride with Winnipeg Transit that starts at 7 p.m.
The Free Ride is both regular and Handi-Transit service. Final buses will leave downtown at around 1:38 a.m.

This is the second year that MPI has partnered with Winnipeg Transit to provide the free New Year’s Eve service and reduce alcohol-related collisions.
