WINNIPEG - Manitoba Moose head coach Scott Arniel said this afternoon that there doesn’t appear to be much new in the latest round of media reports that the NHL’s Atlanta Thrashers might be moving to Winnipeg.

"In my four years here," Arniel said, "I’ve been asked that question an awful lot and I don’t really have an answer. It’s funny -- someone stirs the pot in another part of the country and everyone gets all crazy about it.

"I’ve answered that question enough. It’s not in my department and I’m more concerned about (a Moose game) Friday night. I don’t put too much stock in what’s being said about what’s coming."

Arniel was reacting to reports over the weekend that a group out of Toronto, which includes billionaire David Thomson -- part owner of the Moose and the MTS Centre -- is working on purchasing the Thrashers franchise and moving them to Winnipeg.

Arniel made the comments following his team’s practice at the MTS Centre this morning. The club had two days away from the ice, including a team fishing trip on Monday, following an opening weekend split with the Houston Aeros last Friday and Saturday.

The Moose are preparing for back-to-back games this Friday and Saturday versus the Chicago Wolves.
