  • Print

Three Winnipeg men are in custody charged with second-degree murder following the death of a 23-year-old man in the North End.

Police were called to a complex in the 400 block of King Street near Stella Walk at around 8 a.m. last Wednesday and found the body of 23-year-old Jamie Nicholas Cook of Winnipeg.

Over the last few days, police sought arrest warrants for three suspects and have charged them with Cook's murder.

Lyle Letandre, 19, Aaron Freedom Meekis, 27, and Kelvin Edwin Orvis, 27, are accused and presumed innocent.

Police have yet to reveal the cause of Cook's death pending the findings of an autopsy. It was Winnipeg's 21st homicide of 2013.

Orvis is also accused of a violent assault on a man the day before Cook was killed.

Police are expected to discuss details of the case this morning at a news briefing.
