Trans-Canada Highway reopens after crashes in northwestern Ontario

The Trans-Canada Highway is now completely open near Nipigon, the Ontario Provincial Police said this afternoon.

The OPP also reopened Highway 11/17 to one lane of traffic near Nipigon, Ont.

A serious car crash near Thunder Bay had also temporarily closed down a section of the Trans-Canada Highway while police investigate the accident.

Motorists in the area, which is just east of Thunder Bay, were asked to take a detour on Highway 102 instead.
