Tickets available to see NHL greats play police

Drive safely this week and you may score free tickets to watch NHL greats play a police hockey team March 15 at 7 p..m. at the MTS Centre.

Tickets are now available for purchase by calling 943-4952 or through Ticketmaster, and also will be sold at the door.

Tickets are also available through a new ticketing campaign dubbed "Two minutes for driving so good."

Const. Jacqueline Chaput says that members of the Winnipeg Police Service will be rewarding Winnipeg drivers who display exceptional driving skills and are observed to be obeying traffic laws, such as driving the posted speed limit, wearing their seat belts, stopping at stop signs and using their traffic signals.

Motorists will be stopped by police and commended for their positive efforts and rewarded with tickets to the 21st Annual Old Timer’s Hockey Challenge.

A portion of the proceeds from this event are in support of the Rainbow Society, whose mandate is to provide wishes for children with life threatening illnesses.

Some of the former NHL players expected to play next Monday include Hockey Hall of Famers Dale Hawerchuk, Bryan Trottier, Glenn Anderson, Billy Smith, Borje Salming and Bobby Hull (coach). Former Winnipeg Jets Laurie Boschman, Jimmy Mann and Dave Ellett will also play, along with Theoren Fleury, Bob Probert, Bernie Nichols, Cliff Ronning, Dave "Tiger" Williams, and referee Ron Hogarth.
