Funnel cloud seen near Arborg

A funnel cloud, but no tornado, was spotted near Arborg today.

Environment Canada meteorologist Dan Fulton said a tornado watch was issued at about 4 p.m. for the RM of Bifrost, which includes Arborg, Hnausa, Riverton and Hecla.

Fulton said it was the same weather system that sparked several tornadoes in Saskatchewan on Friday.

The watch was removed with no tornado being seen around 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Environment Canada has issued a strong wind warning is in effect on both Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba tonight and on Sunday.

The wind is expected to increase to 20 knots tonight, but drop to 15 knots before Sunday morning.

Environment Canada predicts the wind would be light through the day, but then increase back to 20 knots by Sunday night.
