WINNIPEG — Damage is estimated at $40,000 after a truck was used by thieves to smash into a liquor store and swipe booze earlier today.

Police say at about 1:30 a.m. two vehicles were involved in a liquor store break-in at 3900 Grant Avenue after the truck gained entry by smashing through the storefront.

No estimates are available on how much liquor was stolen.

"It doesn't appear they got away with a huge amount," said Winnipeg Police spokesman Jason Michalyshen. "The most significant thing appears to be the damage caused."

Police believe at least two individuals were involved in the crime.
