Tuesday night is '80 movies night in the downtown

  • Print

Downtown in August is going to have a definite ’80s flavour.

Six of the decade’s most famous films will be shown outdoors on a 12-metre screen erected in Memorial Park starting Tuesday, Aug. 6 with the Bill Murray comedy Ghostbusters.

Downtown BIZ is behind the cinematic evenings.

"What better way to spend an evening downtown than with friends and family on a blanket watching a great film and enjoying live entertainment," said Downtown BIZ executive director Stefano Grande in a release today.

Pre-movie activities will begin at 7 p.m. each evening, including costume and dance contests and live entertainment. The films will be shown when dusk descends on downtown.

The full film schedule is:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 6: Ghostbusters
  • Tuesday, Aug. 13: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
  • Tuesday, Aug. 20: Planes, Trains and Automobiles and The Great Outdoors
  • Tuesday Aug. 27: Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club.
