Two Bombers named CFL players of the week

Blue Bomber running back Chad Simpson has been named the Canadian Football League's offensive player of the week, while linebacker Henoc Muamba has been named Canadian player of the week.

The two are being honoured for their play in Friday's 34-12 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Simpson recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game, with 19 carries for 134 yards. He also added 58 receiving yards, on four receptions, for a career-high 192 combined yards.

Muamba, last year’s first overall pick in the 2011 CFL Draft who took over the starting middle linebacker job in week eight, had a breakout game. He recorded five defensive tackles, one pass knockdown and one sack. He also forced one fumble which gives him a league-leading five on the season, putting him one back of the team’s single-season record of six, held by Daved Benefield.

This is Muamba’s first player of the week award.
