Two children taken to hospital after play structure collapses

Two children have been sent to hospital after a play structure collapsed today at the East St Paul Soccer & Baseball Complex.

Members of the Southdale Expos baseball team were playing on a metal play structure following their baseball game at around 2:45 pm.

A spinning, merry-go-round-like structure came loose from the rest of the structure while in rotation, trapping children beneath it.

Witnesses estimated that about four or five kids were on the structure at the time it collapsed.

Two children were taken to hospital with head and arm injuries. Witnesses say they were conscious and responsive following the accident.
