Two collisions force road closure

Two automobile collisions in northeast Winnipeg have forced RCMP to close Lagimodiere Boulevard northbound at Birds Hill and ask motorists to take alternate routes.

A two-car collision near the intersection of the Perimeter Highway and Wenzel Street took place just before 8 a.m. A 54-year-old Winnipeg woman died in the collision.

At about the same time, another collision, at the corner of Lagimodiere Boulevard and Wenzel, took place, forcing RCMP to block the vehicles travelling northbound on Lagimodiere.

RCMP and emergency vehicles are at the scenes and motorists can expect delays. Road conditions are reported to be extremely icy.
