Two dead, one injured in Highway 317 head-on collision

Two people are dead following a collision just east of Libau, Man. Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. a Buick Allure smashed into another car, a Buick Century, head-on after it tried to pass some slower-moving traffic on Highway 317.

The male driver of the eastbound Allure was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, an elderly woman, was transported to hospital with serious injuries by STARS air ambulance, which was dispatched to the scene along with Selkirk RCMP and local emergency crews.

The driver of the west-bound Century, an adult female, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the deceased will not be released, according to the RCMP.

No other people or vehicles were involved. Libau is located approximately 20 kilometres northeast of Selkirk.
