Two injured after home invasion

WINNIPEG — A man is scratched, stabbed, but alive today after a violent invasion sent him fleeing through his own window.

Shortly after midnight, a 64-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were at home in the 1800 block of Pembina Highway when two male attackers burst into the suite, armed with a knife and a firearm.

The attackers demanded money, then assaulted and finally stabbed the 64-year-old man in the upper body. The thieves then made a failed attempt to steal the man's vehicle, and fled the scene.

The victim escaped through one of the suite's windows, sustaining minor injuries. Both the man and the woman were treated for non-life threatening injuries at hospital.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
