A memorial walkway at the University of Manitoba called Innovation Plaza will officially open Thursday with the unveiling of the first bust - a sculpture of Dr. Baldur Stefansson, the "Father of Canola."
Innovation Plaza will eventually include a series of commemorative busts to honour distinguished U of M researchers and innovators.
It will be located at Auld Place, south of the Buller Building on the Fort Garry campus.
U of M president Dr. David Barnard and donors who contributed to the establishment of the walkway will officially open it at 11 a.m. by unveiling the bust of Stefansson, a Manitoba scientist who helped create canola which had a major impact on crop science in Canada.
