U of M's new $15-M facility to include top sea-ice research team
The University of Manitoba will officially open a new research facility Monday that the university says will transform and lead global efforts to understand climate change.
The Nellie Cournoyea Arctic Research Facility in the University of Manitoba’s Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resource will be home to one of the largest and most well-funded sea ice research teams in the world.
Media will have an opportunity to tour of the new $15-million facility and its 60,000-square-feet of specialized laboratories, state-of-the-art instruments, and classrooms.
The Faculty’s namesake, Clayton H. Riddell [BSc(Hons)/59, DSc/04], will be joined by Nellie Cournoyea, former premier of the Northwest Territories, and other dignitaries as they officially open the facility.
