The University of Winnipeg will launch its React To Racism Online Challenge today for youth ages 14-20.
A group of local youth will participate in a panel discussion at 10:30 a.m. at the U of W Convocation Hall (second floor, Wesley Hall) hosted by Wab Kinew, the U of W's director of indigenous inclusion.
Challenge questions which will be answered during the discussion include, "how has racism affected you?" and "how can we fight racism?"
The challenge is a global conversation on how to fight racism and is leading up to the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination which will be held on March 21, 2013.
Members of partner organizations which will be present for the panel presentation include Ka Ni Kanichihk, Newcomers Employment and Education Development Services (NEEDS), the Manitoba Association of Rights and Liberties (MARL), Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata, the Treaty relations Commission of Manitoba (TRCM), Seven Oaks School Division, Manitoba Education and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC).
