Unruly couple assaults theatre staff
Moviegoers got more than popcorn and a large soft drink at Silver City St. Vital Thursday night after a fight broke out between customers and theatre staff during one of the films.
Winnipeg Police said a 24-year-old customer was taken to hospital for treatment after he tried to help an usher deal with two unruly customers.
WPS spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said customers at one late showing Thursday night complained to the ushers about the behavior of a 30-something couple, who were unruly and acting out during one of the films.
A 19-year-old usher was assaulted when he tried to remove the couple and another customer, a 24-year-old man, went to aid of the usher and he too was punched up.
The couple fled the movie complex before police arrived.
The suspects are identified as: a tall, white man, in his 30s, about 6-feet, bald with a goatee; the woman was also white, about 5’-6" or 5’-7", with long black hair.
A senior Cineplex official reached by phone in Toronto refused to comment.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 204-986-2857.
