Severe thunderstorm watches issued for parts of Manitoba

The province is under a weather watch from Morden to Pine Falls.

Those shifting winds you see batting branches around this afternoon -- not to mention the hot air -- are packing real thunder, Environment Canada confirmed this afternoon.

The southeastern corner of Manitoba remained under a severe thunderstorm watch mid-afternoon Monday, with the potential for large hail and damaging winds.

In Winnipeg, roughly in the middle of the weather pattern, we can expect a 70 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms later this afternoon, with the wind southeast 20 km/h and a high of 31 C.

Those conditions should last into the evening, clearing overnight and lighting under sunny skies at dawn. Tuesday is expected to be mainly sunny with a high 29.

Severe thunderstorm watches for areas around Steinbach, St. Adolphe, and Killarney as well as the R.M. of Reynolds have ended.
