Wheaties' Pulock joining national team for IIHF championship

Ryan Pulock of Grandview, a defenceman with the Brandon Wheat Kings, has been added to Canada’s national men’s under-18 team roster for the 2012 IIHF World Men’s Under-18 Championship which is being played in Brno and Znojmo, Czech Republic.

Canada had opened the tournament Thursday with a 6-1 win over Denmark and will meet the Czech Republic, Finland and the United States in the preliminary round.

Pulock, 17, finishing the Western Hockey League’s regular season as the third highest scoring defenceman with 19 goals and 60 points in 71 games.

He had a plus-33 rating and was named to the Eastern Conference First All Star Team.
