Winnipeg Harvest asking for help for Saturday's food drive

Perhaps there’s no better way to give thanks than by rolling up your sleeves to help others.

Winnipeg Harvest is calling on volunteers to gather and sort food to feed hungry people in Winnipeg. The Share Your Thanks food drive, the biggest of the year for Harvest, takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1085 Winnipeg Ave.

"We are currently feeding more than 54,000 Winnipeggers and an additional 10,000 in rural Manitoba. This is a 19% increase from the same period last year," said Chris Albi, communications coordinator with Harvest.

"This food drive replenishes our shelves from the dip in donations during summertime and helps for the upcoming holidays."
