Winnipeg equestrian to compete at NAJYRC in Kentucky
Winnipegger Ariana Chia will be heading south this summer to compete in the 2012 North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) set for July 17-22 in Lexington, Kentucky.
The 20-year-old has been selected to represent Manitoba on the Canadian Young Rider Team, in a prestigious event that attracts young equestrians- aged 14-21- from all over the world including the United States, Bermuda, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean Islands.
Chia is no stranger to the competition, having competed in the NAJYRC for Canada in 2008 and once more in 2009.
"No matter where I'm competing in North America, I'm always proudly representing Manitoba and the local equestrian community that I've grown up with," said Chia in a release.
Chia will ride Wishtadanz, a nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood she’s been training with for the past eight years and the only Manitoba-bred horse entered in this year’s championships.
