Winnipeg man charged with robbing store, assaulting clerk

A Winnipeg man is facing charges after a clerk was assaulted during a robbery at a Mac’s Convenience Store in Portage la Prairie on July 29, RCMP report.

When the robber went behind the counter a physical confrontation ensued during which the clerk was assaulted, and cash stolen.

The clerk received non-life threatening injuries and was treated by Portage la Prairie emergency services when they responded about 2:30 a.m.

 Portage la Prairie RCMP issued a warrant on July 30 for the arrest of Leonard Klyne.

 Klyne turned himself in to Portage la Prairie RCMP the next day. He is charged with robbery and uttering threats and is is being held in custody.
