Winnipeg trucker killed in crash in Nebraska

A Manitoba trucker was killed in a crash in southern Nebraska early Thursday morning, the state’s highway patrol reported.

The man, identified as Vladymyr Kuziv, 38, of Winnipeg by a spokeswoman for the Nebraska State Patrol, died in a three-vehicle collision at 7:30 a.m. in Thayer County.

A propane tanker heading eastbound on Highway 4 was attempting to cross Highway 81 when it was struck broadside by a southbound semi-trailer truck, driven by Kuzik. The force of the collision pushed the cab of the semi underneath the tanker.

The semi was then struck by a 2002 Chevy Cavalier.

The Manitoba man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver of the Cavalier was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the tanker wasn’t hurt.
