Winter storm causing delays at Winnipeg airport
A winter storm is causing delays in both departures and arrivals at Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. (WAA.CA)
Winnipeggers travelling east today are advised to check for delays or cancellations of flights due to a winter storm sweeping central and eastern Canada.
Air Canada and West Jet have posted travel advisories for flights to and from Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City. Air Canada flights to and from Toronto have been experiencing some delays as well.
As skies were mostly clear in Winnipeg as of this morning, most departing flights from Winnipeg were set to take off on schedule. However, arrivals from southern Ontario and Quebec are experiencing some delays, said Christine Payne, director of communications for the Winnipeg Airports Authority.
"The weather today could definitely affect travel out east. Things could potentially change, but your number one source is the airline," she said.
