Witnesses sought after sexual assault

Winnipeg police are searching for witnesses in a sexual assault that was reported in broad daylight in St. Boniface.

The woman in the attack, 52, was walking in the 100 block of Goulet Street Thursday when she reported a strange man on a bicycle came up to her from behind and assaulted her. The nature of the assault was not disclosed, but she was reported uninjured.

Police report the woman’s description of the assailant is that he was a man about 20 years old, aboriginal in appearance, skinny with dark, balding hair, and wearing glasses. The bike was orange.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 204-786 TIPS (8477) or call the crime unit at the police east district station, 204-986-2857
