Woman robbed while waiting for bus near mall

A woman waiting for a bus near Grant Park Shopping Centre on Wednesday evening was trapped inside a transit shelter by two female thieves who assaulted and robbed her.

The 40-year-old woman was inside the shelter on the 1100 block of Grant Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. when two other females blocked the exit, and demanded her money and possessions, police said in a news release on Thursday.

The victim was assaulted in her upper body, and one attacker produced a weapon.

The thieves fled the area and the victim summoned police. She was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Police describe both attackers as aboriginal in appearance, approximately 5’8" in height, weighing 160-170 pounds. Police did not give an estimate of the suspects' ages.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 204-986-2877.
