Woman charged after purses snatched

  • Print

A Winnipeg woman has been accused of going on a robbery spree which targeted mostly elderly, vulnerable victims.

Police arrested the accused this week following an investigation into incidents which occurred over the past month in the North End.

The targets included three women, aged 85, 77 and 71, who all had their purses snatched in the area of Main Street and Aberdeen Avenue on separate days. A 23-year-old woman was also attacked but managed to get away.

None of the victims was seriously injured.

Police caught the suspect Thursday evening after several witnesses grabbed her when she tried to rob a 39-year-old woman of her purse.

Lisa Pelletier, 39, is now charged with multiple counts of robbery, robbery with a weapon, robbery with violence and breach of probation. She has been detained in custody.
