A 56-year-old woman from Long Plain has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Winnipeg man whose body was found April 1.
Charged is Valerie Arlene Assiniboine.
Police found the body of 51-year-old John David Goundry in his apartment in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue April 1.
"Homicide Unit members continued with the investigation and with the assistance of the Forensics Services Unit a suspect was identified. On May 15, investigators arrested the suspect without incident," Const. Jason Michalyshen said today. "Investigation has revealed that the victim and suspect had been involved in a verbal argument."
The police are alleging that, "the argument escalated to the point where the suspect armed herself with a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper body."
