Woman dies in farming accident

A 57-year-old woman died on Thursday afternoon in a farming incident north of Russell.

RCMP said the woman from the RM of Shellmouth was operating an open tractor towing a brush cutter at about 4 p.m. when she fell from the tractor and came into contact with the brush cutter.

A brush cutter uses heavy rotary blades to cut through dense weeds and plants.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. No foul play is suspected.

Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health officials and the RCMP are investigating,

The woman's name will not be released.
