A 51-year-old woman from the RM of East St. Paul died in a head-on collision with a semi-trailer on Highway 10 just north of the U.S. border Wednesday night.

RCMP in Killarney say an SUV driven by the woman was heading south. While attempting to pass one semi, the SUV collided with a northbound semi at about 7:50 p.m.

She was the lone occupant in the SUV.

The driver of the semi, a 61-year-old Deloraine resident, was treated with non-life threatening injuries.

The collision occurred in the RM of Morton, just three kilometres north of the Dunseith port of entry into the U.S. An RCMP traffic analyst attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in this collision.

The name of the deceased will not be released.
