Woman testifies she saw boys running from shooting scene

A woman testified this morning that she saw two young teenaged boys running from an SUV where a man had been shot.

The woman, who cannot be identified because of a publication ban, said she saw the two boys  running from the vehicle after she heard three shots fired.

Two boys, who cannot be identified because of their ages, are on trial for first-degree murder for the March 26, 2007 shooting death of Thomas Roy Phillips.

Phillips was a known crack cocaine supplier and it’s alleged that his death was ordered by a high ranking member of the Indian Posse street gang.

Phillips was shot in the middle of the afternoon, at the wheel of his vehicle. He was shot twice in the head and once in the chest.

Earlier, the jury heard the video statements of a then-nine-year-old child who was standing near the SUV when Phillips was shot. The child said that she saw one of the teens carrying a gun.

The woman said she identified the two teens from a police photo line-up.

The woman admitted to a lengthy criminal record.

The trial continues.
