Workshops planned to share info with Wisconsin

Manitoba and the U.S. state of Wisconsin have agreed to work more closely on economic and energy issues, including climate change.

Premier Greg Selinger said today that he and Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle will host a series of workshops involving experts from the Midwest region to "increase private- and public-sector relationships and to maximize opportunities for growth."

No dates were announced for the workshops.

In October, Wisconsin and Manitoba signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance skills, technology transfer and research partnerships in sectors such as renewable energy and environmental industries, water treatment and management, biosciences and life sciences, agricultural and human-health research and development, and transportation.

The workshops will address green jobs and green economy, regional climate economic modelling, agricultural economics, and watershed consequences.

Selinger and Doyle made the announcement from Copenhagen, where both are attending the international climate change conference.
