Would-be robber flees bank empty-handed

A man who tried to rob a downtown bank in the 200 block of Portage Avenue on Friday afternoon was unsuccessful.

Police report the man fled empty-handed after confronting a 23-year-old female employee. Police are looking for a male approximately 50 years of age, 5'10" - 6'0 tall, medium build, and with a handlebar-style moustache.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
