Yes We Mystic may have cribbed its name from Fabutan’s spray-tan slogan, but don’t expect fake sunshine from this local indie folk act.
The band, which has been steadily building buzz since forming in 2011, isn’t one to shy away from melancholy. Its debut EP, Floods and Fires, which will be released Friday at the Park Theatre, deals explicitly in themes of loss.
Still, the five-song set, produced by Les Jupes frontman/Head In The Sand Records founder Michael P Falk — who was so enamoured by the young band he signed them to his label — isn’t bleak. The quintet’s mix of soaring indie rock and energetic folk is downright joyous.
Show starts at 8 p.m. and features folk pop outfit From Giants and Oshima, Falk’s solo project. Tickets are $12 at the door.
