Zombie author Redekop kicks off Thin Air events at News Café

On Friday, Sept. 21 , tune in live on the web or visit the News Café to hear former Manitoban Corey Redekop talk about coming home and his darkly humorous novel Husk, which examines a freshly minted zombie's attempts to balance family, career and (of course) cannibalism. Redekop will chat with Free Press columnist Dan Lett live at 1:30 p.m. at the News Café, 237 McDermot Avenue, or online at www.winnipegfreepress.com
The Thin Air fun continues on Saturday night when Redekop headlines the ForeWords poetry slam at the News Café. In addition to hearing Redekop read from Husk, literary fanatics can take in a performance by spoken word performers Steve Currie, Aaron Simm, J-La, Faiza and Dylan Mowatt who together will represent Winnipeg at the Canadian Festival of the Spoken Word to be held later this fall in Saskatoon. The fun gets going at the News Caféat 8 p.m.
Next week, the News Café will welcome a plethora of top writers. On Tuesday Sept. 25 at 2 p.m., Pulitzer prize-winning novelist Richard Ford, author of Independence Day, will appear live at the cafe and on the web. On Wednesday Sept. 26 at 11 a.m., Trillum Book Award winner and short story author Pasha Malla is the featured interview.
