Assiniboine Park group defends photo fees

ASSINIBOINE Park officials are defending a fee it charges photographers to take photos in parts of the park.

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy charges for shoots at the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, the Formal Gardens and the Conservatory. The fee recently increased to $150 an hour from $100 an hour; it raised $16,000 last year.

Reservations and payment aren't required for other areas of the park.

Some photographers complained after they received a letter reminding them about fees and reservations.
