WHITECOURT, Alta. - RCMP say officers fired shots to disable a truck that rammed a police cruiser following a hazardous pursuit near Whitecourt, Alta.
Police say early Sunday morning Mounties began chasing a truck after it ran a stop sign. When the officers tried to speak with the driver they said the truck accelerated in reverse and slammed into the RCMP cruiser.
Mounties then arrested the driver, who at some point had suffered a minor scrape to her forehead.
Cimberly Margaret-Jan Soto, 23, of Blue Ridge, Alta., faces charges of impaired driving, dangerous driving and assault with a weapon.
She was released on bail and is to appear in Whitecourt provincial court on Oct.--.
