WASHINGTON - Most Americans will get an hour less sleep but will gain an hour as the country goes on daylight saving time this weekend, meaning more hours of evening sunlight in the coming months.
Officially, the change starts Sunday at 2 a.m.(0700 GMT) though most people are likely to reset their clocks one hour forward before going to bed Saturday night. With the change the United States will be four hours behind GMT.
Not every place makes the switch. The exceptions are Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.
Daylight saving time ends Nov. 3.
