Curbside giveaway event kicks off this weekend

WINNIPEGGERS are encouraged to take advantage of curbside freebies this weekend.

The city will hold its first giveaway weekend of the year on Saturday and Sunday, and Winnipeggers can place any unwanted items marked 'free' at the end of their curb.

Possible giveaway items include books, furniture, sports equipment and toys, gardening tools, kitchen gadgets, construction material and clothing. Officials said residents should not give away any items that could be hazardous, including mattresses, linens and furniture that may contain bedbugs.

City officials are reminding residents to remove any leftover items from the curb by dusk Sunday.
