ATHENS, Greece - Greece's statistics agency says unemployment in the country hit yet another record high of 27.2 per cent in January, up from 25.7 per cent the previous month and 21.5 per cent in the same month last year.
It adds Thursday that the young are by far the worst hit, with unemployment in the 15-24 age group standing at 59.3 per cent in January.
Greece is struggling through its sixth year of recession and is relying on international rescue loans to make ends meet. In return, it has imposed strict spending cuts and tax hikes that have hammered the economy.
