A construction-site fire at Health Sciences Centre last week caused more damage to Children's Hospital than previously thought.
Dana Erickson, HSC's chief operating officer, said Tuesday it will be another two to three weeks before a proper damage estimate can be completed.
But he said he was shocked to learn the extent of the damage to the west side of Children's Hospital, which butts up to the east side of the construction site.
"My understanding is that not only is the brick veneer scorched badly, but the insulation between the brick veneer and the concrete wall of that hospital building was actually burning," Erickson said Tuesday.
