With apologies to the Eagles
Off an Interlake highway, humid breeze in my hair
Loud buzz of mosquitoes, permeating the air
Further north on the Rez, man, constant floods are a blight
So I packed up all my bags and kids
Needed a room for the night
There it stood, Misty Lake Lodge
And it seemed really swell
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
But it's been more than two years
And yet still we remain
I hear voices on talk radio
They're so snide when they say
Welcome to the Hotel Manitoba
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
For the flood-displaced
Plenty of room at the Hotel Manitoba
Stay a year or two (Stay a year or two)
We will pay for you!
We just stare at the ceiling
We take walks on the ice
We are all just prisoners of bureaucratic device
At the legislature
They just don't have a clue
They talk to their friends in Ottawa
Who don't know what to do
Last thing I remember
I got woke up late at night
By some dude who told us to get out?
Or did he just want a light?
"Relax," said the MANFF guy.
"We just wanna get paid."
You can check out any time you like
Hope you enjoy your stay
