Lululemon for girls opens at Polo Park

Ivivva athletica for six- to 14-year-olds

LULULEMON athletica's little sister has arrived in Winnipeg.

Polo Park Shopping Centre welcomed ivivva athletica to a 1,600-square-foot location on its second floor on Monday.

The two stores are cut from the same cloth -- both focus on building up a healthy community in the markets they serve and use the same fabric and technical design features for their yoga-inspired clothing. The target market for ivivva is six- to 14-year-old girls, while lululemon focuses on women.

Jaci Edgeworth, area manager for ivivva, said the company is excited about its arrival in Winnipeg.

"We know the city is full of an active and vocal dance community as well as other athletic backgrounds. Lululemon has had success here, so we know there are guests interested in this kind of product and living this kind of lifestyle," she said.

"We have a similar guest but they're in a different age group. They're looking for the same places to shop."

Deborah Green, general manager of Polo Park, said the two stores are virtually across from each other. (Lululemon is temporarily on the main floor while its home base undergoes a major renovation. The mosquito-themed store -- designed to reflect the Winnipeg market, just as its horse-themed store does in Calgary -- is scheduled to reopen in three weeks.)

Ivivva's soft opening will be followed by a grand opening next month.

"We'll definitely be posting all of that on our Facebook page," Edgeworth said.
