Olympic torch ferried up Scotland's Loch Ness, home of the legendary monster

LONDON - The Olympic torch is crossing Loch Ness, home of the legendary monster, as part of its cross-country trek which ends at London's Olympic Park next month.

The torch is being ferried up the roughly 20-mile (32-kilometre) -long lake by boat from Fort Augustus in Scotland's southwest to the village of Drumnadrochit in the central Highlands, before it comes to rest for the evening in the nearby city of Inverness.

The torch began the 22nd day of its relay Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, where hundreds of people waving Scottish and British flags lined the route, cheering as it went by.

More than 8,000 torchbearers are carrying the flame across the United Kingdom and neighbouring islands in advance of the July 27 - Aug. 12 games.
