Portage cabbie stabbed as duo steals vehicle

A 22-year-old Portage la Prairie cabbie was stabbed when two men stole his cab Wednesday night.

Portage RCMP said Thursday the cabbie was driving two men when they suddenly attacked him and sped off in his cab at about 9 p.m.

The man was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP spotted the cab on the Trans-Canada Highway at Highway 13 and began chasing it, but it got away.

Police are asking the public to look for a 2006 gray Nissan Sentra cab with a Classic Shuttle emblem on the side. The Manitoba licence number is GMS 814.

Anyone with information is asked to call 204-857-4445, Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or text TIPMAN plus a message to Crimes (274637).
