The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have locked up the second of their 'Big Three' free agents.
Paul Sheehy, the agent for defensive end Tom Canada, has told The Free Press that his client has signed a new three-year deal with the Bombers that would not have been completed "without (GM) Brendan Taman's hard work and willingness to be creative in structuring this deal.
"It's been in the works for quite a while, and it was a perfect example of when both sides have the same interest in getting a deal done.
"Tom's thrilled to be back."
Canada was the Bombers defensive player of the year in '07 after finishing third in the CFL with 12 quarterback sacks. His signing comes just hours into free agency and with the Montreal Alouettes serious players in stealing away the fan favourite.
His signing leaves five players unsigned: defensive back Greg Bearman, receiver Jamie Stoddard, quarterback Ryan Dinwiddie, linebacker/end Adrian Baird and guard Matt Sheridan - the remaining 'Big Three' member still free after the return of Dan Goodspeed was announced on Friday.
