The Winnipeg police mascot Cuffs debuts as a colour comic strip in Saturday's Winnipeg Free Press.
Cuffs was created as a tool to communicate safety messages to children. The mascot is not able to speak verbally with children while out and about, but police say he plays an important role in communicating with young people.

The Free Press is providing the comic space as a public service at no charge.
The debut strip has Cuffs reinforcing a message about thin ice dangers.
