City firefighters found themselves in familiar territory early this morning when they battled a blaze at a house on Selkirk Avenue that had already suffered $50,000 in fire damages on Friday.
A witness, who would only give his first name, Harold, told the Free Press that he called 911 at about 2:15 this morning.
Winnipeg fire fighters were called to a fire at a home in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue about 2:15 this morning.
“It was really going,” he said of the fire. “The back of the house was all lit up.”
Harold said he didn’t see anybody in the area when he made the 911 call.
Nobody was believed to be in the damaged home at the time of the fire.
A fire department spokesman said firefighters had to attend to several other fires on the same street a short time later.
“Further down Selkirk, probably 10 minutes later, there was two other separate bins (set ablaze) that extended to fences, etc.,” the spokesman said.
Arson investigators are looking into the matter.
